How do I use a theme?
Click on My Gaia > Account and scroll down to where it says Choose profile, choose the correct one, and hit submit. Now look on the right column for the theme link. If you’re using a classic theme, you will see a large text area with a drop-down menu above it, called theme. Select custom and then paste the code into the box, press submit and viola! You’re done. For current themes, there won’t be a drop-down menu above the text area, but you still copy and paste the code into it. Any further questions can be solved by asking us on our thread or by asking in the profile forum.
Will you teach me html/css / how to make a theme?
No, we don’t have the time to teach every single person who asks how to make themes. You might be thinking that you’re only one person, so what’s the big deal, but you’re not just one person, you’re one of the dozens of “one person” people. There are some great guides to gaia css in the profile forum and lots of people who will answer your questions. If you’re looking to learn overnight, you better rethink your plans. Like html, css is always changing and evolving, and you never stop learning.
How did you learn to make profiles? / How long have you known html, css? / etc
Soup: My family didn’t get the internet until 2003 (try not to laugh…), but almost immediately I started getting into web design. It facsinated me from the very beggining, and hasn’t stopped since then. Learning how to code the css for gaia was quite easy, just had to view the source and see what ID’s were used.
Broken: I started making them around July 2007, so about 5 months of knowledge of CSS/HTML.
Pilot: I think it was two/three years ago, this girl who was amazing at making quizilla layouts inspired me and then I self-taught myself html and then moved on to CSS. I used some free version of psp and messed around and made all these crappy layouts and now only recently am I getting better and have at least half-decent layouts.
Will you make me a custom theme? For a million gold??
Soup: I don’t do customs, but I host contests on the iDesign thread and sometimes the prize is a custom. Not always, though. I offer coding services on that thread as well, so if you can already design your own layout, I will code it for you. Er but, I’d totally make you a custom for a million gold!
Broken: For a million – Yes. Under that – NO!
Pilot: Who wouldn’t make you a custom theme for a million gold? I used to make customs for 10k (lol), but I know longer have much spare time due to the fact my real life has mucho excitement and I do like having it. A life that is.
If the pay is good, I will consider making you a custom theme. Good pay is over 30k. wink
