It's the end

Illusional Design will no longer be updated.

Yes, this is the end.

This probably seems sudden, but it’s not for me. Updating the site for the last three months has been pure torture for me, and that’s not right. Running a website should be fun and rewarding, but it’s not anymore.

I have so many different hobbies, and web design is definitely a big one, but I no longer have the time or interest to make profiles for gaia. Hell, the last year and a half on gaia have been less than stellar for me. When I first joined in the summer of 2004, I was a 15 year old about to start my sophomore year in high school. It felt as though 70% of the population was older than me. As I got older, everyone else got older, too, and gradually started to leave as younger users continued to join gaia’s growing community. Now the opposite is true; I feel like a young adult in a group of preteens. That isn’t to say that I don’t still like gaia, because I do; if it’s still around when I’m 40 years old I’ll still log in every now and then just to see how it’s doing. But I definitely don’t enjoy it the way I used to, and I don’t spend that much time on it anymore.

It’s important to me that you guys know how I’m feeling, and that I’m not just being flaky. I could easily just put iDesign into hiatus and come back later, but the fact is that I don’t want to come back.

You can continue to find and contact me on gaia, this has not changed. But I will not be making any more premade profile themes.

Sorry to the designers here on the site and to anyone who wanted to join the staff.

Back in October we had the highest amount of visitors: almost 8000! Our highest number of unique visits in one day was also in October, totaling almost 450!

Thanks a lot for the last few months!

All themes will stay up indefinitely, please continue to use them if you like.

Please note that the newsletter will go on! Although I didn’t end up posting it this month, I do intend to write it for next month and every month afterwards. The topic will still be on profiles, coding and designing, don’t worry. I plan on interviewing popular profile-ers for each letter, too! And so you know, newsletters will be posted on the 15th of each month. Hmm, doesn’t that date seem familiar? As always, add iDesign Newsletter to your friendslist to subscribe. Subscribers get entered in a special raffle drawing every month as well, and can get free profile reviews from me.

More on profile reviews: subscribers can PM iDesign Newsletter and ask for free reviews which will be posted on the newsletter. Reviews will be about 2-3 paragraphs with simple opinions and suggestions about your profile. For 500g, you can get a more in-depth review, and for 1000g, and even more in-depth review. Non-subscribers pay double. ;O
